About this deal

The Seiko 5 SRPE55K1 keeps all of the sporty and iconic design traits of the dive watch but has had the rotating bezel removed and replaced with a polished bezel instead. The result is a sporty dive-inspired watch that is more versatile, classy, and suitable for everyday wear. It is classy enough to be worn on formal occasions, but also sporty enough to be worn on casual occasions too. The positioning of the crown and crown guards prevents them from digging into the wrist and thus improves the comfort on the wrist. The crown guards also have a nice design as the ”curve” out from the case and are polished at the top, too.

But, while the steel sports watch craze has seemed like the story in watches over the last couple of years for us close enough to care, that is, of course, not the case. The larger story is the existential threat to the watch industry that comes in the form of a sleek glass squircle. While legibility is beyond reproach on this watch, for the sake of clarity and reading accuracy, the seconds hand should feature a more traditional lollipop, on the proper end, so when you’re reading the watch in the deep recesses of your parents basement after a 12-hour Fortnite marathon, you’ll be able to tell exactly what time it is, without confusion—or math. The movement has a specified accuracy of +45 / -35 seconds per day. This is not too bad, but owners have reported a much better accuracy in practice. In addition, if you want even better accuracy, it is possible to have a watchmaker regulate it.

Thankfully Seiko decided to give the SRPE55 100 meters of water resistance. This made me feel comfortable doing just about anything with it. I had no issues getting it wet or submerging it in water. The beefy crown guards made me feel secure enough to not have to worry about the crown popping out accidentally. After spending some time with this watch, I concluded that if Seiko were going relaunch the Seiko 5 line, they should have started with this watch and not the 5KX. This watch makes so much more sense in the Seiko 5 line than the 5KX. Not that the 5KX doesn’t belong in the Seiko 5 line; Seiko has always included dive-style watches in the 5 line. It doesn’t make sense to start with the 5KX.

The silver bracelet of the watch is made from highly durable stainless steel, that has been finished using a brushing technique. This creates a subtle, but welcomed, contrast between the polishing of the case and the brushing of the bracelet. It comes in the style of an oyster bracelet, which is associated with the Rolex brand. It fastens usinga three fold clasp. The Dial:When I first saw this watch announced and saw the 40mm case size, I knew I was going to like it. I already enjoy the SKX case and had a feeling it would be pretty hard to screw it up by making it smaller. The fixed bezel looks fantastic when combined with all the other elements on the dial. Seiko nailed it. First, we want to make it clear that when we refer to the SRPE, we talk strictly about the Seiko 5 Sports series of watches. We state this as the SRPE model prefix is also used for Seiko Samurais. As an outlier; the SRPE83K1, which is also part of the Seiko 5 Sports Sense collection, is actually compatible with SKX007 parts. It TRULY caught my attention For it charming goOd looks. Theres some about it that is purley seiko. The words instant classic get thrown around a lot when it comes to watches. I don’t want to outright say that this watch is an instant classic, but it has all the makings of one. It’s affordable and has styling and wearability we haven’t seen from Seiko in recent years. Seiko has been pushing upmarket for the last few years and it is starting to appear that the new line of Seiko 5 watches is what consumers in the affordable space have been clamoring for from the brand. A basic model of an athlete’s response to training can be estimated from data collected as part of the TL monitoring process [ 1, 5]. Specifically, the difference between “fitness” (positive) and “fatigue” (negative) functions can be quantified with internal or external TL variables as training impulse [ 1, 5]. The genesis of this basic TL model stems from the work of Bannister [ 5]. A recent simplified extension of this work has been the development of the acute to chronic workload ratio (ACWR) [ 12– 14]. TL monitoring and in particular the ACWR has been readily adopted (especially in open skill sports) to inform training practices to minimize the likelihood of injury [ 1]. The ACWR has also been used as a tool to systematically progress injured athletes’ rehabilitation and to quantify acceptable levels of injury risk prior to an athlete returning to competition [ 14, 15]. The research on the ACWR suggests values above or below ~0.8–1.3 are associated with an increased risk of injury [ 12– 14]. However, the level of evidence for this recommendation is not yet well developed and it is typically not advocated that practitioners completely avoid ranges outside ~0.8–1.3. These ranges may be practically impossible or undesired in certain situations like early rehabilitation and tapering. Practitioners should instead be cognizant that a higher injury risk may be present and combine this with other factors to make decisions.

This has given me exactly what I was wanting. I love the dial design of the SKX, 5KX, etc. The SRPE67 really reminds me of something like a Tudor BB36, which I've tried on before and very much like. I have to say though, I much prefer the look and design of the Seiko case. It's one area Seiko seems to always excel. It's affordable enough to take out into the woods on a nato and not worry about banging around, and furthermore, I think it looks good in that environment whereas something like the SLA057 looks so shiny and blingy, it looks out of place. Reference Number: SRPE51, SRPE53, SRPE55, SRPE57, SRPE58, SRPE60, SRPE61, SRPE63, SRPE65, SRPE67, SRPE69 This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally. Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent It’s always nicer to look at a beautifully decorated movement with cotes the Geneve, pelage, etc., but it’s important to have in mind the concept of this watch. Watches whose movements are decorated with utmost care and perfection are primarily found in dress watches which are meant to be pieces of art. But the Seiko 5 SRPE55K1is not built as a piece of art, but rather as an everyday tool watch. If it weren’t clear, I like the change—I love the change. I think it ties the case together: look at how the polished tops of the crown guards finally have a friend to play with, instead of some itinerant, everchanging rotation of numbers that always seem a little off. Here’s where the earlier criticisms of the watch industry come in: When viewed like this, the Seiko 5 starts to seem like an amalgamation of Seiko’s greatest hits. Like someone fed data to an algorithm (or, just a large corporation), and out popped this watch, perfectly designed to be inoffensive and have broad appeal.
