About this deal

Sonos has even expanded into the in-car audio space. Its first system, the Sonos Premium Sound System, is found in the Audio Q4 e-tron, and, as our review found, it makes for a very good time indeed. Since I built my house seven years ago I’ve been using a Teac Reference 500 Series audio system in my master bedroom and bathroom suite. The system had five separate components tethered together so they could share the same dedicated universal remote. The system sounded decent and worked smoothly, but my wife was never very comfortable with it. After seven years the only way she ever used the Teac system was with its five-CD changer for playing the same five CDs over and over. I got pretty tired of hearing those discs. Once the Sonos Controller app is installed on the iPhone, tapping it gives you the option to set up your zone. If you've ever used a setup wizard, you'll feel right at home. Hold down the mute and volume up buttons on the ZP 90, the iPhone app detects them, and setup is just a few simple taps and roll-selectors away. If you're setting up more than one zone, which it asks whenever you finish setting up the last on, just repeat the process. a b Gideon, Tim (10 November 2009). "Sonos ZonePlayer S5". PC Magazine . Sonos Connect review: Sonos Connect - CNET

There’s not much s/h value in them these days, so I’ll just keep using them until they are no longer able to work properly. Sonos and SOFTlab light up the Sonos Studio". Sonos. 18 July 2013. Archived from the original on 4 November 2016 . Retrieved 1 November 2016. This set-up process runs through a series of test tones and sweeps, which will be familiar to anyone who has set up an AV receiver. The process tunes your speaker to the room, adjusting the bass and the treble to get it sounding the best it can. Talking of drivers, you’ll find no fewer than five inside the ZonePlayer S5 – you get two tweeters for high frequencies, two mid-range drivers and a single subwoofer to ensure that bass response is well taken care of. Each driver is powered by its own digital amplifier, while crossover duties are also kept in the digital domain thanks to Sonos’ custom DSP technology. Presumably Sonos has included its active crossover DSP circuitry in the S5’s DAC, making it the final stage of digital processing before the signal becomes analogue audio. The latter is about to change. As we write this, Sonos is busy preparing an app for Android 2.1-and-above phones that will see voice search and native contol (i.e. you can control the Sonos' volume using the volume buttons on your phone) added. The Sonos ZonePlayer S5; no longer just an Apple fanboy's dream, and with Apple AirPlay set to dominate the mid-range hi-fi sector where the ZonePlayer S5 sits, it's about time. The company has killed the product - DO NOT BUYIn the interests of balance: (with thanks to bigboss)

When Sonos first agreed to send me a system for review I didn’t specifically request a ZP120 ZonePlayer. I was far more interested in the ZP90 as a music server for my home theater. But once I had a ZP120 in my home I was won over by its undeniable charms. For many audiophiles who need a simple way to add music to their bedroom, kitchen, or sunporch, the ZP120 ZonePlayer is perfect. Not only does the ZP120 sound as good as any integrated amplifier in its price range; it also delivers an exceptional level of ergonomic style. Advances in power supply design, digital amplifier engineering, industrial design, and mechanical engineering make this the smallest, lightest, most powerful amplified Sonos ZonePlayer ever. The incredibly efficient amplifier and power supply, combined with the fan-less design of the aluminum case, allows the ZP120 to operate silently. The ZP120 delivers 2×55 watts per channel RMS at 8 Ohms. With measurements of THD+N < 0.02%, 20Hz-20kHz, the ZP120 delivers powerful low distortion audiophile quality sound to every room of the house. The ZP120 can be connected to speakers and discreetly placed on a bookshelf, under furniture or beds, or hidden in cabinets with connections to in-wall speakers. Playlists supported: Rhapsody, iTunes, WinAmp, Windows Media Player, and MusicMatch™ (.m3u, .pls, .wpl) Can’t update S2 to support Gen 1 Play 5s as they don’t have the internal storage or RAM to allow it to load.Everything works seamlessly together over WiFi. Start with one room and simply add more when you're ready. Sonos Controller sets up and controls the speaker only, with all third and first-party apps incompatible with the speakers. Furthermore, other music services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Pandora and others can be connected to the app and streamed through. There’s no doubt that the ZonePlayer S5 will convincingly fill a room – I found that I could happily listen to the music in the next room without pushing the volume past halfway. There’s a surprising amount of bass, but it doesn’t make the sound muddy as a result, and thankfully doesn’t distort when the volume is pushed high. The bass is never overpowering either, no doubt thanks to the quartet of high and mid-range drivers, leaving you with a good degree of clarity. The Sonos Controller app even supports queuing, so you can create a on-the-go playlist for your streaming music/sound content. Line In: Auto-detecting RCA allows any external audio source to be played by all ZonePlayers in the system
